World Hepatitis Day

28th July 2025, Tibetan health facilities located in South and Central India marked World Hepatitis Day with posters & health awareness events at their respective settlements. Some facilities hosted educational talks at their hospitals, while some hosted their awareness sessions at monasteries and old age homes. saw strong participation. These awareness sessions were led by the respective health facilities’ medical professionals and in Hunsur Dr. Satish Rao, who is a liver specialist of Narayana Hospital Mysore, led the session. The awareness drive largely covered hepatitis symptoms, transmission, prevention, and importance of vaccination.

The department’s Hepatitis B program promotes early detection, testing, and treatment, at-birth vaccination, and the provision of Hep B immunoglobulin to newborns born to mothers with Hepatitis B, among other activities that protect the community from Hepatitis. However, continued collaborative efforts from stakeholders remain crucial to mitigate the disease burden and eventually attain a Hepatitis B-free community.
