World Hepatitis Day observed by the Department of Health

The Department of Health, observed World Hepatitis Day on 28th July, 2023  with the aim to raise awareness about viral hepatitis, promote prevention strategies, and encourage testing and treatment options.  The Department has initiated a panel discussion based on the theme titled ‘One Life, One Liver’ we organized with the healthcare professionals namely Dr Jigmey Kalsang from Delek Hospital  and Dr Rinzin Sangmo from Drophen Men Tse Khang. The panelists discussed on topics ranging from challenges and opportunities in hepatitis prevention, diagnosis, and treatment from the medical aspects of western and traditional knowledge to address the common misconceptions, further amplify the message and reach a broader audience.

Engaging posters, banners and informational displays containing a key information were strategically placed throughout the event venue to educate attendees. Likewise, our nurses led the various awareness activities in their respective settlements and schools. With funding support from the United States Department of State, Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration (PRM), we remain committed to continued efforts in providing testing and follow-up services, with proper counseling on the significance of immunization and spreading awareness within our communities.
