World Heart Day Observed Across Tibetan Settlements

On 29 September, World Heart Day was observed across Tibetan settlements with the aim of raising awareness about cardiovascular health and promoting preventive measures against heart disease. Health facilities in various settlements commemorated the occasion through a series of screening and public health initiatives designed to encourage early detection and healthy lifestyle practices.

As part of the observance, settlement health centers conducted a range of health screenings, including blood pressure monitoring, random blood sugar testing, electrocardiography (ECG), and Body Mass Index (BMI) assessments. In addition, patients diagnosed with hypertension were provided with more comprehensive evaluations, including lipid profile testing, to assess cardiovascular risk factors and support effective disease management.

Several settlements strengthened outreach efforts by collaborating with local hospitals and healthcare professionals to organize educational health talks on heart disease prevention, healthy living, and the importance of regular health check-ups. These sessions provided community members with valuable information on maintaining heart health and reducing the risk of cardiovascular conditions.

The day was also marked by a variety of community engagement activities. While some settlements organized marathon events to promote physical fitness and active lifestyles, others held Gorshey gatherings to encourage community participation and well-being. In addition, Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) training sessions were conducted in certain settlements to equip participants with essential life-saving skills and increase preparedness for medical emergencies.

Through these diverse activities, World Heart Day served as an important platform to highlight the significance of heart health and reinforce the role of prevention, early detection, and community awareness in reducing the burden of cardiovascular diseases.
