The Tibetan Voluntary Health Association (TVHA) convened its 30th Governing Body Meeting on September 5th,2025, at the Chairman’s chamber, Department of Health, CTA, Gangchen Kyishong, Dharamsala.
All members of the Governing Body were in attendance. The meeting addressed the confirmation of 11 key agendas, including the Action Taken Report from the previous meeting, which had received approval through resolution by circular and were now reconfirmed during the meeting, with emphasis on using proper wording as per the TVHA byelaws.
A key concern raised was the workforce distribution in the field health centres, prompting calls for a comprehensive workforce assessment to ensure efficient deployment of medical personnel across settlements.
The meeting also addressed the critical issue of Hepatitis B in the community. Members suggested vigilance over the lack of regular health check-up programs, which could help in timely diagnosis and reduce the risk of rapid progression of the disease into liver cancer. Meanwhile, the Department of Health has already put in place a proposal for comprehensive check-up programs for Hepatitis B patients in the upcoming financial year to ensure timely screening and treatment.
The meeting reaffirmed TVHA’s commitment to strengthening healthcare initiatives within the Tibetan community, ensuring all actions are in alignment with the TVHA byelaws.
