The delegates of Central COVID-19 emergency Task-Force visits Odisha Tibetan Settlement

Meeting with the Odisha COVID-19 task-force

Dharamsala: As recommended by the two advisory members of the Central COVID-19 emergency Task-Force,  the delegates Health Secretary and Chairman of the Task-Force, Mr. Palden Dhondup, and Delek Hospital Chief Administrator Mr. Dawa Phunkyi are continuing their official visit to settlements in central India. The delegates reached Odisha Phuntsokling Tibetan Settlement on 1st September 2021. On reaching, they visited the Tibetan Settlement Office, office of Tibetan Cooperative Society, Local Assembly House, Tibetan Freedom Movement Sub-Committee, and Old-Age Home.

On 2nd September 2021, the 61st Tibetan Democracy Day, after attending the  official ceremony, Health Secretary inaugurated the drainage renovation project which was partly funded by the health department. The delegates then held a meeting with the local COVID-19 Task-Force and spoke on the overall vaccine status of Tibetans in India and Nepal. They enquired and discussed their preparations, readiness, and availability of resources to meet the challenges of a possible third wave.

On 3rd September, a visit to the local boys’ hostel of the STS school was made and then followed a visit to Menlha Hospital which is under the Department of Health. Post the visit, the delegates left for the Mainpat Tibetan Settlement.
