Dharamshala, 24th July 2024: The handover-takeover ceremony between the Additional secretary and the new Secretary of the Department of Health was held today. Mr Jampa Phuntsok took charge as the new Secretary of the Department, Prior to that he was the additional secretary of the Department of Home.
Mr Jampa Phuntsok was preceeded by Mr Dawa Tsultrim. The new Secretary was formally welcomed with traditional exchange of greetings with ceremonial scarfs followed by signing of the official handover-takeover documents by the Additional Secretary, in the presence of Mr jigme Namgyal, secretary to the department of Education as witness.
The ceremony was concluded with greetings by the staffs of the department individually, welcoming the new secretary.
During a short, official meeting in the afternoon, Mr. Jampa Phuntsok, the department’s new secretary, presented his first speech to all of the staff. He stated in his note that he was pleased to be taking on the role because he had previously served the department for almost six years. In his speech, he highlighted to the staff the importance of teamwork which allows to endure and complete tasks with greater impact while resonating how the department confronted COVID 19 obstacles. In addition, he encouraged the employees to put their best effort into any task, regardless of the outcome, and concluded by stressing the importance of upholding interpersonal relationships. Following the Health Secretary’s words, Secretary Jigme Namgyal reminded the staff of the importance of health and the duty it carries for the Tibetan people living in exile. He also reiterated to the staff that not everyone has the opportunity to serve in the administration and urged every one to serve to the fullest extent possible. Additionally, he encouraged staff members to look into opportunities to enrol in courses that would increase their capacity to support the administration. He concluded by wishing the incoming Secretary every success in leading the department. In conclusion notes of appreciation were given by the department’s Additional Secretary, Mrs. Dekyi Dolkar.
