Meeting with local COVID-19 Task-Force members of Kalimpong

Dharamsala: As delegation of Covid 19 Emergency Task Force members are currently on a visit in Tibetan settlements and monasteries in NorthEast India from 25 August to assess the precautionary measures taken for the possible third wave of Covid 19 in India. The delegation is composed of Mr Palden Dhondup, the Secretary of the Department of Health and Chairman of the Central COVID-19 Emergency Task-Force, Mr Dawa Phunkyi, Chief Administrator of Tibetan Delek Hospital and Dr Tenzin Tsundue, medical officer of Delek Hospital 

The visit comes after an advisory by Sikyong Penpa Tsering and Covid Emergency Task Force advisors Dr Tseten Dorjee and Dr Tsewang Tamdin (both official physicians of His Holiness the Dalai Lama) to visit settlements and prepare in advance for the possible emergence of Covid 19 third wave in India.

The delegation visited Darjeeling and Kalimpong on 27th and 28th August and met the members of the local Covid Task Force Committee to discuss efforts to contain the spread of Covid 19. They also discussed vaccination status of local Tibetans, setting up of quarantine centers for the third wave and the need to contact local Indian hospitals in case of emergencies.
