In September, the Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration conducted HPV vaccination drive for Class VII girl students across Tibetan schools in the North Zone. This initiative seeks to ensure early protection of adolescent girls from cervical cancer and associated risks of HPV infection.
The vaccination drive was carried out in the following schools:
- Sambhota Tibetan Schools of Herbertpur, Dholanji, and Shimla
- Petoen School, Dharamshala
- Tibetan Children’s Village Schools of Dharamshala, Gopalpur, Selakui, Chauntra, and Suja
- Tibetan Homes Foundation Schools of Mussoorie, Rajpur, Gohri Mafi, and Dekyiling
- Ngoenga Special School, Dehradun
Under the Tibetan, Economic, Social & Cultural resilience (TESC) program, through the Tibet Fund, 142 eligible students were successfully vaccinated against HPV.
