28th June 2026: Ms. Pema Tso, Health Kalon of the Central Tibetan Administration, graced the closing ceremony of the Inter-TCV Basketball Tournament as the Chief Guest, where she addressed students, staff, and guests with an inspiring message on sports, responsibility, and cultural preservation.
In her remarks, Kalon Pema Tso conveyed her sincere appreciation for the gracious invitation extended to her, noting that the event marked her first official school visit since taking oath as Health Kalon. She conveyed her appreciation to the organizers and participants for successfully hosting the tournament.
Highlighting the broader value of sports, she emphasized that such activities go beyond winning or losing. She noted that sports play a crucial role in enhancing physical and mental well-being while fostering teamwork, unity, and discipline among students. Commending the players, she praised their sportsmanship and encouraged both winners and non-winners to continue learning and striving for improvement.
Reflecting on the larger Tibetan context, she reminded the gathering of the unique privilege Tibetans in exile enjoy—living with freedom under the compassionate guidance of His Holiness the Dalai Lama. She contrasted this with the challenges faced by Tibetans inside Tibet, particularly restrictions on their language and religious practices. She strongly emphasized the importance of preserving Tibetan language and culture, urging both teachers and students to uphold this responsibility with dedication. Addressing the students, she called upon them to cultivate good character and a sense of responsibility, describing them as the future leaders of the Central Tibetan Administration.
In her concluding remarks, Kalon Pema Tso wished all participants success in their future endeavors. She also offered prayers for the long life of His Holiness the Dalai Lama and expressed hope for the resolution of the Tibet issue and the eventual reunion with Tibetans in Tibet.
