Health Kalon, Choekyong Wangchuk arrived in Dhargyaling Tibetan settlement Tezu on 6 December after his successful visit to Tuting Tibetan settlement.
Kalon was welcomed by the Settlement Officer and Representatives of the various organizations in Tezu.
On his arrival, he offered prayers at the local Tibetan Monastery and visited Old peoples home, primary health care center, Settlement office and Sambhota Tibetan School as well as crèches of the Settlement. He also inspected the drinking water source of camp 1 and 5 of Tezu settlement.
Next morning, a public gathering was held at the local community hall where he addressed them mainly on the three principles of the 15th Kashag and briefed about the five fifty strategy of CTA.
Kalon strongly emphasized on the five major health issues faced in Tibetan community namely TB, Hepatitis B, Diabetes, Stomach cancer and Hypertension (BP). In fact the Department of Health is more concerned on preventive measures of prevailing health problems in our Tibetan community, he told the public.
Kalon concluded his official visit on 7 December and returned to Dharamsala on 10 December.
