Dharamshala, 4 June 2026:The Department of Health accorded a traditional welcome to its newly elected Health Kalon, Pema Tso, today. The reception was led by Health Secretary Mr. Jampa Phuntsok, alongside section heads and representatives of autonomous bodies. The ceremony began with a butter lamp offering before the portrait of His Holiness the 14th Dalai Lama, followed by the presentation of ceremonial scarves and formal greetings by the staff of department.
The department convened its first formal meeting with the Kalon at the Project Section, where the Health Secretary presented an overview of departmental operations. Inviting the Kalon to address the gathering, Ms. Pema Tso underscored the importance of continued teamwork in advancing the health and well-being of the Tibetan community in exile, with particular focus on vulnerable populations.
In her concluding remarks, she commended the dedication and service of staff at both the head office and field level. The session concluded with Mr. Jampa Phuntsok extending his best wishes to the Kalon for a successful tenure.
