Health Department Observes World Hepatitis Day

     

Dharamshala: World Hepatitis Day is commemorated annually on 28 July to raise awareness of viral hepatitis, an inflammation of the liver that causes severe liver disease and hepatocellular cancer. This year’s theme is “Hepatitis Can’t Wait”. With a person dying every 30 seconds worldwide from a hepatitis related illness – even in the current COVID-19 crisis – we can’t wait to act on viral hepatitis.

Department of Health, CTA observed the day with a virtual talk on Hepatitis B by Dr Baldev Singh Rana, Associate Professor of Gastroenterology and Hepatology Department of DrRPMC Tanda, Kangra and awareness through Rain coat, Pop socket distribution with a message of Hepatitis B testing, treating and vaccinating despite the heavy rain. The awareness is also being done at all the Tibetan Settlements in India.
