Health Department completes need assessment in Tashinjong and Bir area

Visit at Tashijong Tibetan Settlement

Dharamshala: To prepare budget estimations for the next three years, Sikyong Penpa Tsering, on 11th February, recommended the Departments to dispatch the department’s staff to assess the health related necessities and assistance required at Tibetan settlements in the coming three years.

Accordingly, Health Department’s Under Secretary Mr Tsering and Section Officer Mr Tenzin Samten for three days from 11th to 13th May visited Tashijong Settlement, Bir Tibetan Settlement, Bir Dege, Chauntara Tibetan Settlement and Tibetan Primary Health Center for assessment. The two held series of meetings with respective Settlement Officers, Chair of the Local Tibetan Assembly, and leaders of camps  to discuss and prepare health projects for the upcoming three years. At the meetings, all the attendees were briefed about the primary objective of the visit and then followed a short introduction on each projects and programs of the department. After the meetings, the delegates went to each project sites to assess the feasibility and reality of the challenges. They further appraised the ongoing projects at the settlement. The visit is funded by USAID.
