The EMC workshops across the Central Tibetan Settlements were successfully conducted from 13th to 20th May 2026 at Bhandara, Mainpat, and Odisha Tibetan Settlements with generous funding support from the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (USDOS-SCA).
A total of 30 participants attended the workshop at Bhandara, followed by 19 participants at Mainpat Tibetan Settlement and 27 participants at Odisha Tibetan Settlement. The workshops aimed to strengthen maternal and child health awareness and improve knowledge among beneficiary mothers and participants.
The workshops featured various educational sessions, including antenatal and postnatal care conducted by Department of Health program staff Tenzin Kalsang, newborn care sessions led by Dr. Tenzin Phagdol, and sessions on early reading habits, screen time, child safety, and free play conducted by Dr. Kalsang Wangdue from Manjushri Educational Services.
Nutritional supplements were distributed to beneficiary mothers following the workshops, which contributed to improved participation and attendance. Participants also completed EMC program monitoring and feedback surveys. The collected survey data will be used to further strengthen and improve the EMC program and its implementation across settlements.
The workshops concluded successfully with active participation and positive engagement from all attendees.
