On January 17, 2026, the department’s Every Mother and Child Care (EMC) program held a workshop in the Bir Tibetan Settlement with a total of ten participants, including parents, demonstrating active family involvement in maternal and child health. The program aims to improve participants’ knowledge of motherhood and child care through a series of informative sessions provided by professionals. Dr. Yonten Tsomo led a session on antenatal care, and Dr. Tenzin Tsomo, a gynecologist and obstetrician at Jogindar Nagar Civil Hospital, led sessions on newborn care and early detection of neurodivergent children. Mr. Kalsang Wangdue, a child educator, guided an additional session on early reading in children, which was followed by a postnatal care session led by the department’s nurse, Tsering Yangchen. The workshop contained participatory discussions, and post-session questionnaires showed that participants’ knowledge had improved. Although attendance was lower than anticipated due to the winter season, the workshop was carried out as planned and met its objectives.
