Department of Health Extends Support to Vulnerable Solo-Ager Nun in Dharamsala

Dharamsala, 5 October 2026 – Following the official visit of Health Kalon to the Tibetan Settlement Office (TSO), Dharamsala, on 9 September, during which Kalon assessed the well-being of vulnerable members of the Tibetan community residing in the region, a few individuals requiring additional care and support were identified.
Among them was a vulnerable solo-ager nun residing in McLeod Ganj, whose living conditions required urgent attention. In response, the Department of Health, under the guidance of the Health Kalon and in collaboration with TSO Dharamsala, organized a community support initiative on 5 October to improve her living environment. Staff members of the Department and representatives of the TSO jointly cleaned, decluttered, and organized the nun’s residence, thereby creating a safer, healthier, and more comfortable living space.
The Department of Health underscores the importance of collective responsibility in supporting elderly and isolated individuals, particularly those facing health-related and social challenges. Through such initiatives, the Department seeks to uphold dignity, promote well-being, and foster a supportive community environment for those most in need.
