Department of Health CTA observes World Cancer Day

Dharamsala: The department of health, CTA observes World Cancer Day as Secretary, Mr. Palden Dhondup participated today in a signature campaign to mark the occasion at McLeodganj. The campaign was organized by the Tibetan Cancer Society and the theme for the year 2020 is ‘I am and I will’.
World Cancer Day is observed on 4th February every year to create awareness about cancer. The theme for the year 2020 is ‘I am and I will’. Cancer occurs due to the abnormal growth of cells in the tissue or organ of the body. It is the second leading cause of death globally.
The theme acknowledges that everyone has the ability to address the cancer burden. We can work together to reduce cancer risk factors. We can overcome barriers to early diagnosis, treatment and palliative care. We can work together to improve cancer control and achieve global targets to reduce premature mortality from cancer and NCDs.
Later in the day, additional secretary, Mr. Jampa Phuntsok paid a visit to the free health camp at Mcleodganj being organized by Patient Care Trust to which the department of health, CTA has extended its support. Health additional secretary had a brief interaction with Mr. Sonam Wangal who is the Founder/Director of Patient Care Trust.
The free health camp will be held till 6th February 2020. It provides consultation for various sections. They include Ortho, Oncology, Gastro, Pediatrics and Gynecology.
