The Department of Health recently concluded a comprehensive two-day Health Information System (HIS) training program at healthcare facilities in Dekyiling and Tibetan Homes Foundation from 13 to 14 March 2024. The training was designed to enhance the capacity of healthcare field professionals and improve data management within healthcare facilities. Aiming to build the capacity of nurses with updated knowledge and skills related to the open MRS system, the Department of Health along with HISP technicians conducted an open Medical Record System (MRS) refresher training session at Tibetan Primary Health Center in Dekyiling on 13th March 2024. The session also addressed the operational challenges that may be encountered while operating the MRS system. The participants received the training and engaged with the trainer productively. On the following day, 14 March 2024, the Department of Health held maiden Health Information System (HIS) training at Tibetan Homes Foundation (THF) school in Mussoorie.  THF school is being identified as the third location for the pilot project of HIS implementation within Tibetan schools. The training session included introduction of HIS to school nurses, emphasizing the role of HIS in terms of better data management, monitoring prevailing disease and monitoring health issues within educational institutions.

The training was expected to pave the way for improved health data management within educational institutions, facilitating better monitoring and response to health-related issues among students and staff members alike.
