Department of Health and Home Host 5-Day Workshop on Palliative, Hospice & Geriatric Care

Dharamshala:  Under the Elder care programme funded by the USAID, the Department of Health and Home is co-hosting a 5 day workshop from 10 July 2023 onwards, titled “Palliative, Hospice and Geriatrics” at the Administrative Training and Welfare Society (ATWS).

The elder care programme was initiated last year by training senior nurses of hospitals and health care providers of Old People Home(OPH). The chief guest at the opening ceremony was Secretary Palden Dhondup of the Home Department.

Participants for the workshop are OPH nurses and Settlement doctors including those of monasteries and institutions in India and Nepal. The workshop is aimed to equip health care providers in delivering holistic and compassionate care for the elders. The workshop is led by Dr Tsewang Ngodup (MBBS, MPH, MD), Dr Lobsang Tsering (MBBS, MPH, PGDBDM), and Geshe Lhakdor, Director of Library of Tibetan Works & Archives(LTWA) as guest speaker.

Day 4: Amidst discussion on elder care resolution in the presence of department of Home and Health secretaries
