Basic Healthcare workshop to Recently Arrived Tibetan Men from Tibet

Public Health Division of the Department of Health, CTA organized a basic healthcare workshop to 38 recently arrived Tibetan men from Tibet, who are currently studying at Sherab Gatsel Lobling School, Dharamsala. The duration of this workshop was two days from 29th March to 30th March 2017. Resource persons include 3 health coordinators from Department of Health, one Doctor from Delek hospital and one from MenTseeKhang.

The training mainly focused on men’s health issues such as sexual transmitted diseases, cancers, urinary tract infections, general health and hygiene and adolescent mental health. Also covered topics on Tuberculosis, HIV AIDS and Hepatitis-B with PowerPoint presentations from respective resource persons. In addition, this workshop involved presentation from Traditional Tibetan Medicine’s perspectives on men’s health. This workshop was aimed to create greater awareness about basic health issues particularly relevant to men’s health among these newly arrrived Tibetan men. Moreover, to empower them to practice positive health seeking behaviors in their daily life.
