To mark World Tuberculosis (TB) Day on March 24, 2025, a series of awareness talks and health outreach programs were conducted in Tibetan settlements focusing on educating communities about TB prevention, symptoms, and treatment.
Dr. Tashi Phunstok and nurse of DVT Kollegal hospital delivered an engaging awareness talk to a public gathering of approximately 300 people. The session highlighted the support provided by the Department of Health (DOHe) in TB control efforts and the Revised National Tuberculosis Control Programme (RNTCP) protocols. The discussion emphasized the significance of timely diagnosis, adherence to treatment regimens, and community participation in achieving a TB-free future. In addition, nurses from Bhandara and Mainpat conducted outreach programs at old age home and Sambhota Tibetan School, respectively. While in Rawangla the nurse promoted awareness on social media as well as reached out to STS school students and parents. Puruwala nurse spoke on TB to a group of 50 people who were gathered for morning Blood sugar fasting test at 7 am in the morning. Such initiatives focused on educating vulnerable populations and younger communities about TB symptoms, transmission, and prevention strategies.
