Dr. Tsering Wangchuk is a distinguished Tibetan physician and public servant who served as Kalön of the Department of Health, CTA from 16th September 2011 to 30th May 2016.
During his tenure, he contributed significantly to strengthening the Tibetan healthcare system, with particular emphasis on preventive healthcare, health information systems, and community-based health services. One of his notable initiatives was the introduction of the Tibetan Medicare System in April 2012, expanding access to affordable healthcare for Tibetans in exile.
He also placed strong emphasis on addressing major public health concerns, including tuberculosis, hepatitis B, hypertension, and other non-communicable diseases, while promoting health awareness, early detection, prevention, and treatment. He further strengthened international cooperation in healthcare and sought opportunities for professional training and capacity building for Tibetan health personnel.
Through his medical expertise, leadership, and dedicated public service, Dr. Tsering Wangchuk made a valuable contribution to the advancement of healthcare and the overall well-being of the Tibetan community in exile.
