Mr. Lobsang Nyandak Zayul, born in Kalimpong in 1965, is a distinguished Tibetan public servant who has made significant contributions to the Tibetan administration in exile. He served as a Member of the Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies from 1996 to 2001 and was also the founding Executive Director of the Tibetan Centre for Human Rights and Democracy.
In 2001, he was appointed Kalön of the Central Tibetan Administration, serving successively as Kalön for Health (20th September 2001 to 6th March 2005), Finance (2001–2006), and Information and International Relations (2005 – 2006).
During his tenure, he contributed to the administration and strengthening of Tibetan health services, financial management, and international advocacy. His leadership in the Department of Health formed part of an important period of institutional development and expansion of health services for Tibetans in exile.
