Mr. Gyari Lodoe Gyaltsen was a distinguished Tibetan public servant and statesman whose life was dedicated to the service of the Tibetan people and the advancement of the Tibetan administration in exile. He served as the Chairman of the Seventh Assembly of Tibetan People’s Deputies from 1979 to 1982, providing leadership during an important period in the evolution of Tibetan democratic institutions.
He subsequently served as Kalön for Religion and Health (19th September 1987-10th November 1988) in the Kashag, contributing to the preservation and promotion of Tibetan religious and cultural institutions and to the development and administration of health services for the Tibetan community. His service in both the legislative and executive spheres reflected his commitment to good governance, public welfare, and the preservation of Tibet’s distinctive cultural heritage.
Throughout his public career, Gyari Lodoe Gyaltsen was respected for his dedication, sense of responsibility, and steadfast commitment to the Tibetan cause. His contributions to the fields of governance, religion, and health remain an enduring part of the institutional history of the Tibetan administration in exile.
He passed away on 29 October 2018 at the age of 70. His legacy continues to be remembered with respect and gratitude for his long and devoted service to the Tibetan people.
