Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk is a distinguished Tibetan public servant who has devoted many years to the service of the Tibetan people and the Central Tibetan Administration. Born in Kalimpong in 1971, he served in various capacities, including as Coordinator of the India Tibet Coordination Office, Executive Director of the Tibetan Parliamentary and Policy Research Centre, and elected member of the 14^th and 15^th Tibetan Parliament-in-Exile.

In June 2016, he was appointed Kalön of the Department of Health in the 15^th Kashag, serving from 1^st June 2016 until 26^th May 2021. During his tenure, he contributed to strengthening Tibetan healthcare services, preventive health programmes, community health awareness, and the Tibetan Medicare System. He also placed emphasis on improving health facilities and administrative capacity across Tibetan settlements.

A significant part of his tenure was his leadership of the Department of Health during the COVID-19 pandemic, coordinating preventive measures, public awareness, quarantine support, and collaboration among Tibetan health institutions and settlement communities. He also promoted initiatives concerning hepatitis, cancer prevention, healthy lifestyles, and the development of Tibetan medical institutions.

Through his dedicated public service and leadership, Choekyong Wangchuk made a meaningful contribution to the strengthening of the Tibetan administration and the health and welfare of the Tibetan community.
