“Clean hands keeps disease away!” 5th May, On this world hand hygiene day, the health centers in South and Central Tibetan Settlements observed the day targeting elders, underscoring the fact that older population are more vulnerable to infections due to weakened immune systems. The event aimed to raise awareness about the importance of practicing good hand hygiene among this high-risk group. During the event, total of 91 participants from different settlements were educated by their respective TPHC nurses about diseases and infections that can result from poor hand hygiene. Attendees received hands-on demonstrations and practice on correct handwashing steps as well as when to practice hand hygiene such as before eating, after using the restroom, and after contact with potentially contaminated surfaces. This event will hopefully, promote long-term habit surrounding hand hygiene thus keep in check preventable infections.
