Addressing the gathering, she paid tribute to generations of practitioners whose lifelong dedication helped preserve and advance Sowa Rigpa for the benefit of countless beings. She emphasized that the enduring relevance of the Tibetan medical tradition rests on its strong philosophical roots and practical contribution to public well-being. She noted that Sowa Rigpa practitioners have played a vital role in safeguarding Tibetan religion, culture, and language through the study and transmission of its classical texts and teachings.

Reflecting on growing restrictions on Tibetan identity inside Tibet, she urged Tibetans in exile to take greater responsibility for protecting and strengthening their cultural heritage. Echoing advice previously given to Sowa Rigpa students by Ven. Samdhong Rinpoche in March 1998, she stressed that Tibetan medicine should be pursued not merely as a profession, but as a commitment to serving the community.

She further highlighted the legacy of Yuthok Yonten Gonpo and the Four Medical Tantras (Gyud Zhi), urging students and practitioners to preserve these traditions with dedication and care. While recognizing the substantial infrastructural support provided for the field by the government of India, she underscored the need for academic excellence, innovation, and collective effort to adapt Sowa Rigpa to contemporary needs and expand its benefits globally.

Reaffirming continued support for the advancement of Sowa Rigpa, she called on for greater unity among institutions and practitioners and urged the effective implementation of resolutions adopted during the conference before the next gathering. Concluding her remarks, she offered prayers for the flourishing of the Sowa Rigpa tradition and the swift return of His Holiness the Dalai Lama to Tibet, and for the joyful reunion of all Tibetans.

Following the conference, Health Kalon,  toured key facilities on campus, including the Vice-Chancellor’s Office, the Central Library, and the newly constructed Sowa Rigpa Hospital building.
