On 25 August 2026, Health Kalon made an official visit to Delek Hospital in the afternoon. During the visit, the Hospital Director, Dr. Tenzin Tsundue, briefed the Kalon on the health examinations conducted for newly arrived Tibetans from Tibet and provided an overview of key health issues affecting the Tibetan community in exile.
The Director informed the Kalon that patient records and statistical data are now maintained through a digital record-keeping system. Previously, records were preserved in paper format, which presented challenges in long-term storage and retrieval and carried the risk of documents being misplaced, damaged, or lost over time.
The discussion further addressed disease prevention measures, particularly the preventive vaccination programmes provided free of charge by the Government of India, and explored the possibility of facilitating greater access to such services for members of the Tibetan community. The Director also reported on the current tuberculosis (TB) situation, noting a significant decline in the number of cases compared to previous years. In addition, an overview was provided on the implementation and progress of the “Zero TB” Programme.
The Health Kalon, in turn, briefed the hospital administration on the forthcoming HealthReview Meeting, outlining its proposed agenda and emphasizing the importance of utilizing the limited time available to effectively deliberate on priority matters. Particular attention was given to key agenda items, including the formulation of health policy and the appointment of members to the Health Adviser Committee.
The visit concluded with an inspection of the hospital’s various departments and service units, during which the Health Kalon reviewed their facilities, activities, and overall operations. The Kalon also interacted with patients to gain first-hand insights into their health conditions, experiences, and the services being provided by the hospital.
