From curiosity to confidence: Nurturing informed, healthy, and empowered young girls.

Dharamsala, 12 August: In an effort to empower young girls with knowledge and confidence, the Department of Health conducted an interactive menstrual health awareness session at Mewoen Tsuglag Petoen School. The session engaged 66 girls mostly aged 9 to 12 through lively discussions, educational activities, and animated videos covering puberty, the female reproductive system, and menstruation. Participants showed remarkable enthusiasm and curiosity as they explored the physical and emotional changes associated with growing up.

The initiative aims to help young girls embrace menstruation as a healthy and natural part of adolescence, fostering confidence and informed decision-making. Building on the success of the programme, a similar session is scheduled for students of Upper TCV School on 17 August. The session concluded with a vote of thanks. The initiative was generously funded by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of South and Central Asian Affairs (USDOS/SCA).
