Resolutions of Health Department’s Special Meeting on Improving Overall Public Health

The Department of Health, Central Tibetan Administration organised a three-day special meeting to improve and strengthen the overall public health services, disease prevention and hospital administration of the Tibetan community from 16 – 18 May.

At least 129 Tibetan doctors, hospital administrators and health staff from all over India attended the meeting which was inaugurated by Sikyong Dr Lobsang Sangay. The meeting was part of the Kashag’s effort to revitalise Tibetan preventive healthcare following His Holiness the Dalai Lama’s public rebuke on the deteriorating situation of Tibetan public health on 23 March.

The special meeting deliberated on seven agendas related to Tibetan public health and formulated a list of resolutions to focus its attention. The resolutions formulated by the special meeting are submitted to the Kashag, which will implement it through the department of health and its branch offices and clinics.
