Health Kalon Visits Bylakuppe Tibetan Settlement

Health Kalon Mr Choekyong Wangchuk visited Lugsum Samdupling and Dekyilarsoe Tibetan settlements in Bylakuppe. He arrived at the settlement on 28 July 2017 and was welcomed by the settlement officers and leaders of local organisations and institutes.

During the visit, he held meetings with members of the Italy-based Vimala Association and nutrition expert Dr Deepa Prakesh from the Department of Biology, Mysore.

He also visited the clinics of Sera jey and mey, branch Mentsekhang clinic, health clinic of Namdroling monastery, football ground of Dekyi Larsoe Tibetan settlement and Tsojhe Khangsar hospital.

He further visited Karuna Home for Children with special needs and the nearby Kargyu monastery and its clinic.

Health Kalon also addressed monks, lay public  and students during his visit to the settlement. He spoke about the three guiding principles of the Kashag, the five-fifty strategy and a brief introduction and activities of the seven departments of the Central Tibetan Administration. He particularly gave a detailed account of health department and its various projects and initiatives, emphasising preventive measures as key toward a healthy community.

Health Kalon further held meetings of health committee and discussed the importance local health projects and how to improve public health.
