Honourable Health Kalon Mr. Choekyong Wangchuk CTA inaugurated the new basketball court at Lakhanwala Tibetan Settlement which is funded by Department of Health, CTA Dharamsala for the financial year 2016-17.

A brief official function was held at Lakhanwala Community hall on 14 August 2017 and public welcomed the Health Kalon in line and he cut ribbon in front of the marble plaque at the court side and then invited in the community hall.

Mr. Tsewang Phuntsok, settlement officer; Lakhanwala gave brief introduction about the project and its proceeding. He thanked all the donors and project team members who took good responsibility for the successful completion of the project.

Mr. Choekyong briefed them of the aims and objectives of the project and he also shared experiences from his visit to the Tibetan communities based in Nepal and India. He emphasized on ‘Prevention is better than cure’ and primary health care philosophy. He also highlighted that basket courts and football grounds facilitate socializing and through which, we come to know each other’s problem and extend help to resolve their problem accordingly.

Finally basket match was played between ITI Selaque and Lakhanwala team with the Sealque team bagging the victory. The game was attended by the local heads and people.
